Singapore WSDC Champions 2011

Singapore (Teoh Ren Jie (C), Adil Hakeem, Ashish Kumar, Benjamin Mak Jia Ming. Coach: Geetha Creffield) have won the 2011 World Schools Debating Championships. They defeated Australia by 7 judges to 2 in the final.

Teoh Ren Jie  (Singapore) was the top ranked speaker on the tab.

Turkey won the right to host WSDC in 2013.

World Schools Semi Results

Singapore defeated Ireland by 5-2
Australia defeated Scotland by 5-2

Topic was "This House believes that any region should have the right to secede if the majority of the population wish."

The Grand Final between Australia (proposing) and Singapore (opposing) is on the topic "This House believes autocracy is doomed in the age of Facebook."

Oxford IV 2011 Registration OPENS THURSDAY!‏

Dear all,
 
First of all, apologies for the delay in opening international registration for this year's Oxford IV. We have been having serious technical issues with our website, which is still not up and running. However, we are now ready to open registration for this year's IV. At 9am BST on Thursday 25th August, registration will open. At that time, we will post a link to registration on the IV Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/event.php?eid=141641042591477), which also contains all the information you need about the tournament. IONA Registration will open as intended on September 1st.
 
Please let us know if you have any questions. We are very excited about seeing you all in Oxford in November.

Sydney win UNSW IV

The University of Sydney Union (USU) team of Ed Miller and Annie Gribble have won the University of New South Wales IV 2011. In the final they defeated UNSW (Angela Kintominas and Sean Lawson), Sydney (Joseph Ware and Sara Smylie) and  Monash (Duncan Wallace and Nicole Franklin).

The top speaker was Ed Miller from Sydney
