ANU Spring Tournament 2007

The Australian National University (ANU) Spring Tournament 2007 was held from the 24th to the 26th of August 2007 at the ANU.

The winner of the tournament was Giselle Kenny and Katherine Connolly from Sydney University.

The other finalists were Brad Lancken and Naomi Oreb from Sydney University, Alice Heathcoate and Julian Ensbey from University of Queensland and Victor Finkel and Julian Campbell from Monash University.

Registration for CIMB WUPID

Dear all,

Preparation for the much awaited CIMB Group World Universities Peace Invitational Debate is going on smoothly and we would like to take this oppurtunity to remind all invited institutions that they will need to register with us before the 1st of October. At this point in time more than 70% of the invited institutions have responded and we are waiting for the rest.

We would also like to remind everyone that we also have a waiting list (which is growing by the day) and come 1st October we will open the free rego (accomodation, food, and socials sponsored) to institution on our waiting list depending on availability (which is not many to begin with).

So if you are invited or intend to be on our wait list please drop a us an email at yunus@hngsc.com soonest possible.

Oxford IV rego

Registration for the IONA (domestic) package for the Oxford IV 2007, sponsored by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, will be opening at 00.01 hrs British Standard Time (BST) on the 1st of September.

With a Team Cap of 140 Teams, the IV this year promises to be just as big and even better than in previous years. If you are going to register as an IONA team please register early, as we anticipate a high demand.

Japan 10th ESUJ University Debating Competition 2007














Dear all,

The English-Speaking Union of Japan (ESUJ) will hold the University Debating Competition in English on October 7 and 8, 2007. This year, ESUJ will celebrate their 10th anniversary competition. ESUJ will invite four top British student debaters to participate in the event and to give a model debate. They will also present some special program for the 10th anniversary such as the Asian style model debate and the panel discussion by the honorable past finalists.

Tournament Details
Preliminary Debates October 7 (Sun.) 10:00 Opening Ceremony
Final Debates October 8 (Mon. Holiday) 9:30 Announcement of Best 8 Teams 16:10 Grand Final Notice: For the finals on Monday, Oct.8, prior registration is required. (by Tuesday 25th September)

A reception will be held on October 8 following the closing ceremony of the competition to commemorate the ESU International Council Meeting, which is being held in Tokyo this year. Representatives from ESU's around the world will be present at the reception. All ESU members and students are welcome to attend this very special occasion.

Justice evicted


Just a quick update to let people know that unfortunately Justice was evicted from Big Brother Africa tonight. In case you don't know who Justice is he is the face of Botswana debating and organised their bid to host Worlds at council last year.
